Goober and I had fun with Monk-E-mail this week. Send me one. I recommend Text-to-speech.

I just turned the "On" button to the TV and saw the last scene of Thelma and Louise. That was awesome timing.

Confusing ... Yesterday I was emailed this link (referencing 2003 One dollar bill with serial number G7748---3D) and it went to a page that told me my bill had been found.

(No shit! I had lost any hope of anything coming of those stupid things.)

But then I was emailed, a note that says:
Your bill linked below was corrected due to a bill being split into two entries due to an incorrect series or denomination correction.

Denom 1 Series 2003 Serial Number: G7748---3D Entry number: 3 on this bill from zip code 33161 has been changed, here is the new link to the bill: [link]
Huh?

Sort of defeats the purpose because now there's no way to see all the places it's gone on one page, eh?

Whatever.

Does Christina Aguilera's "Back in the Day" remind anyone else of Chicago's "We Both Reached for the Gun"? ... Just me?

Books I've Read Recently
Books I've Read Recently

Spook: Science Tackles the Afterlife by Mary Roach
I chose this one because I liked Roach's other book, Stiff. I'm reading this one now, and like it so far.

Possible Side Effects by Augusten Burroughs
Not my favorite of Burroughs', but I did like it more than Magical Thinking. If you're a fan of Running with Scissors and Dry, I recommend Sellevision. According to Burroughs' web site, he's going to write a book about his relationship with his father, and that's one I'm looking forward to, more than the essay collections.

Busting Vegas: A True Story of Monumental Excess, Sex, Love, Violence, and Beating the Odds by Ben Mezrich
Good airplane reading. It was better than Ugly Americans, but I still like Bringing Down the House the best of Mezrich's books.

Another Bullshit Night in Suck City by Nick Flynn
This was my book club's selection for September. I liked Flynn's exploration with language, sometimes reminding me of Jonathan Safran Foer. It wasn't fantastic, but I liked it well enough.

A Long Way Down by Nick Hornby
I've only read one other Nick Hornby book, How to Be Good, and I liked that enough to read another. A Long Way Down is much better, and I'm recommending it above the others in this list. I liked the description on the back of the book that described it as "It's the The Breakfast Club rewritten by Beckett."
