I pretty much hate summer. It's my least favorite season. One thing I've always hated about summer is summer clothes, mostly because I don't like how I look in them. Not this year! (All those workouts? Paying off now!) I spent most of my weekend walking around Fire Island in shorts. Shorts! I never wear shorts outside the apartment! I even wanted to wear them home on the ferry and the train! (I changed into jeans though because it started raining.) Hello Summah ...  *More Fire Island pics

Look! I had my last cigarette 500 days ago! Right: I haven't had as much as a drag of a cigarette since January 1, 2005. Hot dog! On very drunk nights last year, I'd have Smash puff smoke in my face for me to secondhandedly inhale. A few weeks ago I held a lit cigarette for Heather B. who was rummaging through her purse. No problemo. As Heather C. said to me early on, "You're a nonsmoker now." [Gah! So uncool!] "Nonsmokers don't smoke." [That woman is very wise. Thank you!] And thank you to everyone who has cheered me on, especially Brady, Heather C. and Will. It means a great deal to me. :) If you're in NYC and want to come celebrate with me and my pals, come by Kettle of Fish for happy hour tonight!

Quote of the Week Last night, astrophysicist and director of the Hayden Planetarium Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson said that if there are enough exceptions to any theory, then one should probably throw the theory out. So it would follow that if we could find enough examples of "stupid design," Intelligent Design ("a philosophy of ignorance, not a philosophy of discovery") could be dismissed. He cited many, many great examples of "stupid design" in the universe. My favorite ... "And what's going on between our legs? It's an entertainment complex in the middle of a sewage plant!"
