This is the closure of the Triboro Coach terminal at Roosevelt Ave. in Jackson Heights, Queens. I often take the Q33 bus from there. It drops me off across the street from my apartment. If there is a strike, I will be working from home. I won't be able to deliver presents to some of my best friends and I'll miss a holiday party on Wednesday that I've been looking forward to. I won't be able get in a good Day 2 on the new health regimen I started today. Grrrr. How would an NYC subway strike effect you?P.S. Anyone else notice that it's freaking freezing outside? The power of the holidays is so strong that it moved me to buy a Mariah Carey song, blast it loud and sing and dance around my apartment.

I took myself to see Spamalot today! Tim Curry is leaving the show on Dec 18, and I got to see him. (Apparently Alan Tudyk was in it until recently, but I'm only a little bummed I missed him.) I'm in love with the Lady of the Lake, Sara Ramirez. And, the performance I attended was taped to be included in the archives of the New York Public Library. :)

Peeking Over Your Shoulder
Lifehacker is asking readers to post screenshots of your desktop to Flickr -- amd they're giving out prizes. I've already seen one that has something I think I'd like: Diana uses Rainlendar. What do you have to share? What have you learned from others?
No, I haven't made one, but I've finally downloaded and listened to one. I've been perfectly educated as to what a podcast is and why they're cool for some time now. But the reason I never listened to any is because I had no idea where to start to find one that would be interesting to listen to. Even when iTunes added podcasts to their service, I was still stumped. I could browse podcasts about Movies and there were hundreds. How would I know which one was any good? But now I've found one that I already love: The Ricky Gervais Show [ via - Thanks!].

You Have Reached a Geeky Post
You know what stinks about the SessionSaver .2 Firefox extension? If you get to a page that crashes your browser and you have to force down Firefox (.pdfs seem to do this to mine, anyone else?), when you restart the browser, it'll navigate back to that busted page and crash it all again. I'm uninstalling it.

This Is Called a Carnival
*I arrived at Sassy's birthday party a little too late to catch Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins. Sassy snagged a souvenir.*Can you tell the difference between a legitimate and a fraudulent email? I consider myself pretty savvy on these things, and I only got 8 out of 10 on this quiz [via Brady]. *Lola was stumped for writing inspiration and turned to her readers for help. I tossed a few ideas, and she answered the question about what was in her purse. Now she's answered the others. *... And Katherine also asked for questions. I'm still waiting on the answers to those. (Though she did answer one for me over email. Haha.) * TiTo-ThE-cHeEtO has turned 13! You're officially a teenager, lady! Happy happy! * Firefox 1.5 is here! I was scared when I first installed it because I got a message saying most of my extensions weren't compatible with the new version. Luckily, the next message said it could auto-update all of them. Huzzah. I did have to manually adjust some of my settings (tab preferences, search engines), but overall, I like the new version. Seems to be a lot faster than before. *Reza Mazaheri, a Flickr friend who lives across the street from me, was questioned by a Homeland Security detective when he was taking photos in Newark this weekend. *Want help with a custom holiday card? Check out Snailer [ via]. Order by Thursday December 8 for delivery by December 25. *Boy meets girl online. Boy and girl fall madly in love. Boy leaves note on the kitchen table for wife and children and flees to foreign country to be with girl.*Knitty Kitty takes a momentary lapse of fug to blog a kickin' Mr. Rogers sweater. *And, finally, because of an article in the New York Times (Bedbugs are back? No shit) there's all sorts of buzz about the vampire insects. So welcome to all of you finding your way here by searching for bedbug info. You'll find my whole disgusting tale here, including pictures of my bites.
A friend, who is often described as "cold," "heartless" and "has no soul," is also invited to more weddings than anyone I know. She's also been a bridesmaid more than anyone else I know. She: When are people going to stop getting married? You're going to use up all the love in the world!!! Me: Strangely, I think that's one of the most romantic things I've ever heard you say.
